Atelier de la Rose became the home of Ed Herring (artist, retired lecturer and motorcyclist) and Sally Gaucheron. (art and design historian) in 1991.

The artist's studio, the centre of Ed's short courses in visual studies until his death in 2003, is an exclusive space in which artists and writers can work.

From the start, he and Sally set out to welcome international visitors seeking to discover the real France. Atelier de la Rose's experience of helping a variety of people get the best out of the region has enabled Sally to develop a full range of activities.
